MWL's Intermodal Service enables you to maximize cost savings without sacrificing service standards.

Opportunities for cost-reduction are many. Some of our customers have reduced their costs by enabling us to identify loads that could be switched from Over-the-Road service to our Intermodal Service. Others that were shipping via an intermodal marketing company ("IMC'") decreased their costs by switching to MWL (and accessing the many cost advantages the Asset-Based Platform model has that are typically unachievable in an IMC's model).

Savings are critical. However, MWL realizes that its Intermodal Service must be reliable, as well. Operating on an Asset-Based Platform (with regard to both the container and drayage) better enables MWL's Intermodal Service to meet our customers' reliability expectations. IMCs cannot be certain that containers (or drayage) will be available when the IMC needs them. Additionally, MWL's leverage (as a result of collective buying power) grants it better rail service/priority than typically received by IMCs. Thus, MWL--unlike IMCs--rarely experiences an intermodal service failure as a result of "railroad congestion" (i.e., lack of sufficient space on the train to fit all containers seeking space on the train).
