MW Cares and Tarleton Fort Worth Partner to Prevent Hunger and Support Student Success

FORT WORTH, Texas (January 29, 2025) – Tarleton State University Fort Worth and the MW Cares Foundation officially opened The Purple Pantry on January 29, 2025, providing a self-service food pantry to help students facing food insecurity.
Funded by the MW Cares Foundation, the philanthropic arm of MW Logistics, The Purple Pantry offers students discreet access to food essentials in a welcoming, judgment-free environment. As reported by the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, the pantry "combines dignity and accessibility, helping students focus on their education without the burden of hunger."
Mitchell Ward, CEO of MW Logistics, spoke at the ribbon-cutting ceremony, reflecting on his personal experience with food insecurity and the importance of supporting students beyond the classroom. Other speakers included Pamela Wills-Ward, President of MW Cares Foundation; Dr. James L. Hurley, President of Tarleton State University; and Dr. Sherri Benn, Vice President of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion at Tarleton.
Located at 10850 Texan Rider Drive, the pantry is part of a broader effort by MW Cares and Tarleton to foster student success by meeting essential needs.
