DFW Philanthropists Gather in Support of St. Philip’s School and Community Center

(DALLAS – March 31, 2026) The MW Cares Foundation, led by Pamela Wills-Ward, played a key role in this year’s Destiny Award Luncheon, raising more than $1 million to benefit the St. Philip’s School and Community Center. With additional gifts still being received, the event continues to build momentum in advancing St. Philip’s mission to provide educational opportunities to low- and moderate-income families. The event was held at the Omni Dallas Hotel.
“At MW Cares, we believe in the power of literacy and access to education,” said Pamela Wills-Ward, president of MW Cares. “Supporting St. Philip’s is not only about creating opportunities that uplift students, it’s about changing lives and creating a better future in our communities.”
The event brought together donors and sponsors and generated a record $179,000 during the Day-of-Giving challenge, the highest total in the luncheon’s history. The event also showcased the grand opening of the Moody Performing and Fine Arts Center, a creative space designed to amplify student voices and accessibility to the arts.
Additionally, the luncheon featured Misty Copeland, former principal dancer with American Ballet Theatre, and honored Fredye Factor with the Mona and Dave Munson Humanitarian Award.
The success of this year’s event was supported by the leadership of the Wards, along with luncheon sponsors and co-chairs. Through MW Cares, their efforts helped expand the event’s reach, engagement and fundraising impact, introducing St. Philip’s mission to new audiences while strengthening support among existing partners.
The funds raised will directly support St. Philip’s school and community operations. St. Philip’s supports more than 8,000 community members through transportation for seniors, housing assistance, food support through Aunt Bette’s Community Pantry, and more.
